1608年に作られた岩国城は、江戸幕府の「一国一城令」
により築城からわずか7年後に破却された悲運の城。
現在の城は、市民の熱意により1962年に再建されたもの
です。

Iwakuni Castle built in 1608 was pitifully demolished
just seven years later when the national ruler of the
shogunate decreed that tere could only be one castle
in each province.
The present castle was reconstructed following strong
requests of the citizens in 1962.

なお、自分の足で登りたい方は、観光地図の左にある
ように紅葉谷公園、ユース・ホステル辺りから約20分で
登れ、よい運動と森林浴になるでしょう。

If you would like to climb mount to Iwakuni Castle,
in the left of a tourist resort figure -- it can reach
in about 20 minutes from the Momiji park and the
youth hostel neighborhood like, and will become good
movement and a good forest bath.
